Look, we’ll all been stuck at home for a while now. If your state – or country, if you’re reading this blog from somewhere other than India – is not in lockdown, then it’s kind of like lockdown anyway, with all of us isolating as much as possible to keep safe from COVID-19. So we think it’s safe to say that we’re bored. There’s only so many TV shows you can watch, books you can read, or boardgames you can play before you’re longing for something new.

The Pet Project to the rescue! Here’s a bunch of exercises you can do with your dog at home. Sort of. We don’t actually encourage you to do them at home. We just want to give you a few moments of cat and pup heaven, and a bit of a laugh. So, without further ado –

Pilate dog!

Those of you who’ve scoured the internet will have come across this video already, but it’s good enough to watch again and again. Here’s a dog that not only listens but is clearly an exercise aficionado. Look at that poise! That balance! This is definitely more grace than we show when we do Pilates. We have no idea how long it took to train this Border Collie, but we definitely know it’s the smartest pup in the world. It deserves all the treats in the world!

Pilates for dogs?

This may not quite be on topic, because you can’t do this at home unless you have the equipment, but did you know there was a Pilates for dogs? We definitely didn’t. Apparently, there’s a whole bunch of equipment made to work your pet out – without knowing it. They basically climbing onto vibrating instruments and then subtly work out their muscles as they unconsciously focus on staying balanced. It’s a bit like sitting on an exercise ball instead of a chair.

Honestly, we’re just here for the video of dogs looking adorably confused on how what should be solid isn’t. But still, this is a good exercise to do at home and for a dog that may have balance issues.

Cats interrupting yoga

We know it’s old, but we love the piece where a cat plots to dominate the world and a dog that goes about enjoying everything they possibly encounter. Any pet owner will tell you that cats and dogs are varied animals and you can’t put them into buckets – Kafka, our beloved dog, is definitely more cat than dog – but we don’t care; we like it anyway.

So after we watched a video of a dog being excellent at instructions, imagine our delight at finding a cat video where cats are pleased to cause as much mayhem as possible. Look at them! They’re adorable. Their human is trying do yoga, but all they see is a jungle gym and maybe some free cuddles and scratches. They’re fascinated – and perhaps a bit puzzled – by the strange shapes their human insists on making. Cats are the best.

Pets just causing mayhem

Alright, it’s definitely more fun watching pets disrupt exercise routines than watching them do exercise routines. So this is definitely off-topic, but that’s kind of the state of the world anyway isn’t it – just pandemonium? So here’s a video compilation of pets interrupting their pet parents as they try to exercise at home, in the most hilarious and inventive ways.

Man, we love pets. We don’t deserve them.
