Let’s face it – a good portion of our week is spent scrolling Instagram. Maybe you want to get some feel-good pet vibes in to your life or maybe you want to start the journey of becoming a pet influencer and need some inspiration… Whatever the reason, in no particular order, here are 10 pawesome Indian Instagram accounts to follow for some pet goodness and dog-and-cat joy.
Chronicling the sun-soaked, gorgeous lives of a cocker spaniel and Labrador from their perspectives, this Instagram account is full of greenery, artful shots and, of course, an astounding amount of puppy-goodness. These two dogs are loving, enthusiastic and full of life – and it’s clear that their pet parents adore them. Follow for some wholesome joy.
You can tell from the profile picture that Kira is an explorer. Striking a brave and daring pose, leg-deep in water and her tongue out, Kira the Labrador stares out into the distance and the sweet, sweet chaos that awaits. This Instagram account follows her travels throughout Mumbai and occasionally Pune, captured in many beautiful shots. The bonus feature? Kira has two cat sisters – Ginger and Puttu – and you’ll occasionally find some gorgeous pictures of them on the account as well.
For those who want some human kindness on their timelines and would like to believe in the goodness of the world again, Stray Dog Feeder Malad is an excellent account to follow. The account is run by Nikhil Shirdhankar, an animal rescuer and activist who feeds more than 2,000 stray dogs; the account chronicles his journey. It’s also an excellent account to follow if you want to help the stray dogs of Malad; Nikhil chronicles any injuries he sees, medical treatment that may be needed, and abandoned kittens and puppies that need a home.
If you’re looking for variety and range, nothing can beat the Instagram account “Goodest Boys of Bombay”. This account is all heart – it sets out to chronicle all the lovely cats and dogs of our beloved maximum city, Mumbai. Posts usually include the stories of the pets featured, which means you feel closer to the wonderful animals of this city. The account also features PAWEDCAST (we love the pun), a vblog on all things pets.
If you’re a cat lover,
then this account is a must. Cara Belle is a beautiful Turkish Angora, is four
years old, and spends their time doing very cat things: our favorites include
napping in the sink and practicing how to walk on a laptop keyboard. Follow for
some close-up pictures of truly beautiful and enigmatic kitty that is wholly
themselves.
Pups Paw
What’s social media for if not bringing people with common loves together? Pups Paw sets out with exactly that mission: it’s an account for all dog lovers. With 102,000 followers, it’s a teeming, thriving community; and all of it is driven by their excellent posts. Followers of Pups Paw can expect a whole lot of puppy goodness on their timelines – big eyed puppies, furry puppies, puppies being befuddled, happy, and generally silly. We love the silly ones the most. It’s an excellent account to just browse and spend some time soaking in the happiness that our beloved canines can bring us.
World for All Animal Care is a Mumbai-based NGO for dogs and cats that’s dedicated to spreading the word about animal issues: that includes adoption, sterilization and rescue. It’s a great account to follow for animal lovers to know more about the animals that need a loving home. Come for the news and information, and stay for the adorable pictures of dogs and cats being their lovable and silly selves – including a hilarious video of Zuzu the kitten trying to clean the bottom of a glass by pawing the water out of it. Cats are the best.
